[ WoD Mage :: The Banishers ]

Le 2 Mai à Londres : Une fois rentrés de leur expédition, le retour à la réalité du quotidien est  difficile. La chose qui préoccupe Samuel reste sa malédiction. Il parvient à mettre la main sur le Journal de son aïeul Aden Darius Hellbound dans la partie secrète de la bibliothèque. Il apprend qu'Aden portait la marque de leur damnation et que sa fille Maria Celestine, que Samuel savait être medium comme lui-même, a reçu une ancienne prophétie.
Lors d'un exorcisme pratiqué au Moyen Orient au 11eme siècle par un des ancêtres de la famille, le démon incarné cracha sa malédiction : "Je me vengerai sur ta famille jusqu'au dernier de ton Sang ! Je t'arracherai tes ailes et  marquerai du sceau de la Faim  !" Samuel sait que le sang des Hellbound a quelque chose d’appétissant pour les choses de l'obscurité et de Malfeas... Mais il comprend, que l'Avatar mutilé dont il a hérité était celui du mage qui a pratiqué l'exorcisme. Maria Celestine donna une autre vue à cette prédiction dans le courant du 18ème siècle : " L'enfant marqué du Seau Rouge sera sauvé par la Bougie. Il sera la clé ou la serrure. Mais cela dépend du choix de l'Oiseau".
Samuel s'est éveillé à l'age de 15 ans après une tentative de suicide. Aux portes de la mort, l'Enfer l'attendait car son âme appartient déjà aux monde du dessous. Il a été mystérieusement réanimé après être mort un temps... La Bougie est un Oracle puissant qui tissent les fil d'un projet colossal dont ils font tous parti. Ce paris ambitieux, les Banishers l'ont découvert grâce aux capacité prophétique du Chœur Céleste du groupe. Mais ce qu'aucun d'eux ne saisit c'est qui est "l'Oiseau" et que représente la clé ou la serrure....

Une dizaine de jours après, le groupe prend la route de l’Écosse pour se rendre dans la maison de famille d'Aileen. Désormais, la Verbenna parle le gaélique qu'elle appris avec une grande conviction. Ils sont près à entrer en contact avec l'esprit gardien de la grotte. C'est un esprit de Lune. Les mages découvrent alors qu'il s'agit d'un passage secret vers horizon par le biais d'un pont de lune ! Cette porte dérobée par l'Umbra doit rester secrète. Ils décide de se rendre à Horizon par le tertre du Pays de Galles, moins connu et moins dangereux que Stonehedge. Le soir venu, le coupe Aileen et Samuel couche dans l'ancienne chambre qu'occupait autrefois la grand mère Douglas.

Au lendemain, Aileen découvre sous le lit, un pochon remplit d'herbes et d'épices. La Verbena réalise qu'il s'agit d'un des vieux talisman de fertilité de sa grand mère... Elle sait qu'il n'était pas là auparavant (la dernière fois qu'ils se sont rendus à la maison il n'y avait rien sous le lit ! )  et soupçonne son propre avatar tangible de l'avoir placé là ! Néanmoins, il ne fait aucun doute qu'à la pleine lune aux cœur du printemps, dans cette chambre et avec de talisman, quel qu’ait été sa période, elle ne peut être qu'enceinte.

Elle confire son hypothèse avec une certitude absolue grâce sa maitrise de la Vie. Il ne reste plus qu'à l'annoncer à Samuel qui refusait de vivre avec quiconque avant qu'elle ne le convainque pour cette seule et unique raison : ne pas infliger son sang et sa malédiction à un être innocent. La Verbena est nerveuse mais elle sait qu'il est inconcevable pour Samuel de ne pas accepter cette nouvelle vie. Oui elle voulait un enfant avec lui mais pas maintenant, pas comme ça... Néanmoins, à la veille d'une guerre contre les force de l'Enfer empêtré dans les malédictions et les prophéties, elle aurait voulu qu'ils le désirent ensemble. Il est pourtant inévitable, elle le sait, que le Chœur Céleste le prenne comme sa charge pénitente et sa très grande faute d’amener un être nouveau dans un monde de souffrance avec un sang voué à Lucifer et ses suppots.

15th of May 2002, Douglas's cottage, Scotland

On May the 2nd in London: Once returned from their expedition, the come back to the reality of everyday life is difficult. The thing that concerns Samuel remains his curse. He manages to get hishands on his ancester Aden Darius Hellbound's diary in the secret part of the library. He learns that Aden bore the mark of their damnation and that his daughter Maria Celestine, whom Samuel knew to be medium as himself, received an ancient prophecy.
During an exorcism practiced in the Middle East in the 11th century by one of the ancestors of the family, the incarnated demon spat his curse: "I will take revenge on your family until the last of your Blood! I will tear off your wings and mark you with the Seal of Hunger ! " Samuel knows that the blood of the Hellbound has something appetizing for the things of darkness and Malfeas ... But he understands that the mutilated Avatar he inherited was that of the mage who practiced the exorcism. Maria Celestine gave another view of this prediction in the 18th century: "The child marked with the Red Seal will be saved by the Candle, he will be the key or the lock, but it depends on the choice of the Bird."
Samuel awoke at the age of 15 after a suicide attempt. At the gates of death, Hell was waiting for him because his soul already belongs to the underworld. He was mysteriously resuscitated after he died a short moment... The Candle is a powerful Oracle that weave the threads of a colossal project of which they all belong. This ambitious bet, the Banishers discovered it thanks to the prophetic capacities of the Celestial Choirus of the group. But what none of them seizes is who the "Bird" is and what the key or lock represents ....

Ten days later, the group takes the road to Scotland to Aileen's  family house. From now , the Verbenna speaks Gaelic she has learned with great conviction. They are ready have now a contact with the guardian spirit of the cave. It is a spirit of the Moon. The mages then discover that it is a secret path to Horizon by a moon bridge! This door concealed in the Umbra must stay secret. They decide to go to Horizon by the Welsh Mound in Wales, less known and less dangerous than Stonehedge. In the evening, the couple, Aileen and Samuel sleep in the old room formerly occupied by Grandmother Douglas.

The next day, Aileen discovers under the bed, a pooch filled with herbs and spices. The Verbena realizes that this is one of her grandmother's old fertility talisman ... She knows it was not there before (the last time they came to the house there was nothing under the bed !)  and suspects her own tangible avatar of putting it there! Nevertheless, there is no doubt that at the full moon in the heart of spring, in this room and with this talisman, whatever her periods are, she can only be pregnant.

She confirms her hypothesis with absolute certainty thanks to her mastery of Life. She only have now to announce it to Samuel who refused to live with anyone before she convinces him for this one and only reason : not to inflict his blood and his curse on an innocent being and don't risk any reason for him to slide to dark side. The Verbena is nervous but she knows it is inconceivable for Samuel not to accept this new life. Yes, she wanted a child with him but not now, not like that ... Nevertheless, on the eve of a war against the forces of evil entangled in curses and prophecies, she would have liked them both to desire the child together . Yet it is inevitable that the Celestial Chorus takes it as his penitential charge and his great fault in bringing a new being into a world of suffering with blood dedicated to Lucifer and his foes
